On Sunday, November 7, 2004 our former distinguished Florianopolis Committee chairman, Dr. John Milton Killian, passed away at the age of 60 after a long stressful illness. On the following Wednesday, November 10th, his wife, Kathlyn, shared a memorial service with us at St. Elizabeth’s Episcopal Church. Dave Lisk assisted guests and Rev. Richard Fife in the service. Interment followed in Evergreen Burial Park. Our Committee and RVSC Corporate have shared in the ordering of a bronze memorial plaque in honor of John and his family to be posted in this their home church. 

As our committee chairman for two years [‘01-‘02], John was a resourceful leader especially after the 9-11 tragedy. His language skills in Portuguese, Spanish and German even made him an asset to the Opole Committee when he and Kathy visited in Poland in July 2001. John is greatly missed.
